Read a traffic row before committing to a lane

A free decision log for a focused practice session, based on the game’s documented mechanics.

Published October 15, 2026 · Programming Securely · Original exercise with illustrative examples

Plan a path through the row

Mayo Road Rally describes three lanes and an opening in each traffic row. In a practice run, identify the safe opening and your current lane before deciding whether to move. Chasing a supply barrel is a different goal from clearing the row; record when those goals compete. A useful observation names the visible cue and the chosen response rather than calling a collision simply “bad timing.”

Track protection separately from steering

Blue supply barrels provide fuel and the documented service shield gives three seconds of protection. Note whether protection was active during the decision you are reviewing and which chapter you used. A protected passage and an unprotected one are different observations. This worksheet makes no steering input, simulates no traffic, and does not measure reaction time or claim a clean-run star result.

Compare one decision in the build you actually use

Record the version, stage, controls, and relevant kit or resource state before comparing attempts. Change one decision when possible and write the actual response separately from your prediction. A useful practice note explains what you learned and what is still unclear. Public release availability and platform support remain as stated on the homepage; this worksheet does not launch the game, connect an account, read cloud saves, or submit a score.

Worked example

A small situation to try

Illustrative exercise: An imaginary run has an open right lane while a supply barrel appears in the middle. The player records the opening, their current lane, and whether a shield is active. They first test a clear passage, then review the resource choice separately rather than changing route, speed assumptions, and protection at once.

What to do next

Use what you learned

  1. Check the homepage’s controls and current availability before a practice session.
